1815, Scum of the Earth – February 2022, Unboxing Video + Updated Timeline: ETA June
about 2 years ago – Tue, Feb 08, 2022 at 11:50:12 PM

Howdy there – we've got a lovely treat for you today!

1815 Unboxing Video

We're dead excited to share this unboxing video of the very first copy of 1815, Scum of the Earth! The 1815, Give Me Night and HEBS Weather Deck expansions are shown too (for those who ordered them, they aren't usually packaged with the base game like this)...

Updated Timeline

So where does this leave us in terms of progress in getting the games to you? Well, all the files have been approved and the printers are poised to go as soon as they're back from Chinese New Year in a week or so. It takes about 6 weeks to print and check all the games. Then we need to load them onto the boats from the factories and ship them around the world to our various local hubs, which takes about another 6 weeks or so, bringing us to around May. And finally, they'll be sorted, checked, packaged, and posted out to you from your local hubs. So realistically, you should receive your games in or around June this year. Some might land a bit earlier than that (we're hoping to have stock to show off at UK Games Expo at the start of June), and some might be later, but that's what we're aiming for right now.

And that's all for now, have a brilliant week everyone!

1815, Scum of the Earth – January 2022, PPCs Arrive + Playmat/Tokens/Rules Updates
about 2 years ago – Tue, Feb 01, 2022 at 03:37:15 AM

Hi guys, the...

...Pre-Production Copies Arrived!

The Pre-Production Copies have landed, and they look bloomin' beautiful! :D

1815, Scum of the Earth front and back
1815 deck stacks + both expansions
HEBS Weather Deck expansion fanned out to the centre left
The 1815, Give Me Night Prussia expansion
The lovely new solo dial
We updated a couple of cards from 1565, St. Elmo's Pay for anyone with the previous print run
Here are the 3 Scum of Kilforth promo cards for any Kilforth fans amongst you
The new double-sided solo play flow chart, main rulebook, and solo rulebook
And with the Veilwraith reprint added in for good measure!

I fanned out all of the army card decks too but – whilst unbelievably gorgeous – it just looked like one mahoossive spoiler! We also filmed an 1815 unboxing video so that should be ready in time for the next update.

Francesca and I have been through every single card, line by line, number by number, and made a handful of little final updates for clarity, consistency, and, um, morphology. So our final files are with the printers now, and they have been authorised to hit go on mass production for all HEBS games as soon as they return from Chinese New Year (in a couple of weeks).

Rules Changes for 1815, Scum of the Earth!

And whilst you wait, feel free to familiarise yourselves with the final rulebooks – solo players can take a peek at the brand spanking new 1815, Scum of the Earth Solo Foe Flowchart (and the brand new Solo Flowcharts for 1066, Tears to Many Mothers and 1565, St. Elmo's Pay) here too:

For those of you familiar with the previous HEBS games, below is a summary of some pertinent rules changes – they are also identified and listed separately in the new main rulebook linked above:

  • French and British Tactic cards begin the game in play (Prussian Tactic cards do not).
  •  SOLO: Sacrificing cards is no longer a free action for the player.
  •  SOLO: Artillery/Ranged Units take their Action and Tire immediately when played.
  •  SOLO: Have a read of the ‘Player’s Choice’ and ‘Quick-Play Setup’ (end of Solo rules).

Playmat update: amazing new art + playmats are now double-sided!

Here was a great opportunity to make something awesome even extra awesomer – the back of the playmat is now fully printed with a layout where all the cards are rotated 90 degrees for ease of use when playing solo. You can also see the brand new art commissioned from the inimitable Mikhail Greuli:

For multiplayer games
For solo play

Tokens Update!

Another user experience update here: a raft of the tokens have had a "3" painted on them (to represent 3 damage instead of 1) so that the tokens are easier to stack and read on the cards. We also rounded out the edges of the cardboard tokens (for all three games) to make them feel nicer and look cooler too:

new Cannon tokens (with 'Mired' status on the reverse) on the right-hand side

And that's all for now, catch you again next time, and hope you have a brilliant week ahead!

Cheers,

1815, Scum of the Earth – December 2021: Digital Proofs Approved!
over 2 years ago – Fri, Dec 03, 2021 at 05:12:16 PM

Ey up!

The digital proofs have already come back. Our graphic design guru Darren and I have been through all of the files with beady eyes. Everything looks absolutely brilliant so I've approved everything for all three HEBS games and expansions. :)

Next up, we twiddle our thumbs and wait a bit for the Pre-Production Copies to be assembled and sent to us. When they arrive, we then confirm everything after seeing all of the components in real life (and playing the game even more). And then once that's done, we start up the printers and make those blooming games!

I don't believe I've thanked you guys enough yet for gifting me with the opportunity to make the most beautiful game about Waterloo that the world has seen, so... THANK YOU!!! You are more awesome than any amount of words that I scribble can ever do justice.

Cheers!

Tristan xx

P.S. Our next gorgeous game Call of Kilforth: A Fantasy Quest Game is Kickstarting very soon – if you haven't already, please subscribe via our website if you would like to be notified of the launch:

1815, Scum of the Earth – November 2021: Off To The Printers!
over 2 years ago – Fri, Nov 19, 2021 at 03:52:55 PM

Hi guys,

The files for the game and all expansions have now been sent off to the printers!

Next up we'll be approving their digital proofs, then they'll send me a pre-production copy of the game, which we'll go through with a fine-toothed comb to check for mistakes for the millionth time, and then we'll fire up the printers and get this beautiful slice of historical epic battleness into production!

And that's all for now folks – let us know what you'll be playing this weekend in the comments, and have a brilliant rest of the week!

Cheers,

Tristan xx

1815, Scum of the Earth - October 2021

Hello there,

I hope this missive finds you safe and well and that you're dancing a mental jig in anticipation of this exciting upcoming week! (Yes, I've had my coffee today...) :D

This is a quick catch-up to say that we're now waiting on just 12 final pieces of art for the 1815, Give Me Night expansion whilst we're finalising the awesome input from our last round of play-testing.

Then we're going to be sending off the files to the printers!

And since there's no way on earth to make the lengthy administrative and logistical processes that all of this entails sound exciting or interesting, I'm opting to cannon an art blast into your eyeballs instead! Now, I'm not saying that this is going to be the single most beautifully illustrated Battle of Waterloo game you've ever seen or played but, well, I mean, you know, just... Check these out:

And that's all for now, I hope you have a truly brilliant week!
