FINAL DAY - FUNDING SMASHED!
about 3 years ago – Sun, Apr 18, 2021 at 12:46:04 AM

Yuuuuusssss!!

Thank you everybody so much for smashing that finish – somewhere around 600% funded in fact! You also more than doubled the funding of 1565, St. Elmo's Pay and it's been a huge vote of confidence for the game system and for the history and we are delighted.

We're also delighted that you have chosen to support our game/s (many of you multiple times over) – this allows us to continue doing what we do and we'll never forget or stop being grateful for that. :)

You busted the playmat milestone so all of the 1815, Scum of the Earth playmats are going to have full double-sided artwork. And don't worry if you missed anything during the Kickstarter, if you want to add playmats, or 1815, Give Me Night or anything else to your order you can do all of that in the pledge manager. We're here if you have any questions or issues.

In a couple of weeks we'll be able to launch the BackerKit pledge manager - so when you receive an email from or about BackerKit be sure not to let it hit your junk mail.

For those of you who are new to Hall or Nothing we will also keep you appraised of our development progress via regular monthly updates following the campaign, and we are always available in the comments section or by email ([email protected] and [email protected]) if you have any questions or comments.

For rules questions, advice from the experts, photos, session reports, sneak previews of our other games and more, make sure you follow us on social, and join our official chat groups here:

Take care everyone, have a brilliant weekend, and happy gaming!

1815, Scum of the Earth - FINAL HOURS! Prussians + Scum Of Kilforth??
about 3 years ago – Fri, Apr 16, 2021 at 03:45:34 PM

How do, friend?!

£83,809 pledged 523% funded 1,384 backers 31 hours to go!!

Here we are with just hours remaining before the campaign wraps up, and the pace has ramped up considerably already - thanks again for your support, whether you've been with us from second 1 or if you've just joined us, you are most welcome indeed.

Prussians!

I don't want to give too much away about how the Prussians play – I already blabbed quite a bit about game mechanisms in the last update video – but if you remember how the Ottomans were seemingly numberless in 1565, St. Elmo's Pay: The Great Siege of Malta Card Game (to help represent these unending tides of soldiers, some of the Ottoman cards could even be played from the discard pile), I wanted to capture a sense of that from the French perspective of how the Prussians at Waterloo just kept pouring into the battlefield as the evening wore on. Mechanically it's different again from the Ottomans, but for example some Prussian cards have the Comrades ability whereby they can summon similar units from your deck to your hand to bulk up your resources and choices of units.

Below is a cheeky sneak peak at a couple of the cards from the 1815, Give Me Night Prussian expansion. Don't forget that you can add the 1815, Give Me Night Prussian expansion to your pledge by simply increasing your pledge total by £16 (or you can simply add it in the pledge manager if that's easier):

Scum of Kilforth!

Okay, let's ramp up the action in the last 30 hours and see if we can hit £90,261, peeps (kudos if you can guess the significance of this total). If we hit this milestone we'll have some special guests from Kilforth join us in the game too... ;)

With 'Brown Bess' for example, you can either shuffle this Kilforth promo into Call of Kilforth, or you can use the Reward tokens from Shadows of Kilforth to identify its discoverable location, or in Gloom of Kilforth you can add it as a bonus card to the market.

Game Ratings!

One thing that really helps bring attention to our games is when you rate them on boardgamegeek. So if you haven't already, and if you have either of the previous HEBS games (or any of our games!) it would really do us a great service if you could choose an appropriate number out of ten and click to rate:

Not long till nightfall friend, so sally forth!!

1815, Scum of the Earth, Day 25 – Double-Sided Playmats + Review + Interview + Video!
about 3 years ago – Wed, Apr 14, 2021 at 03:43:34 AM

Well hello there,

£75,548 pledged 1,262 backers 3 days to go!

You did it guys, this is now our most successful HEBS Kickstarter to date already! The playmat stretch goal is officially smashed, and now all of the 1815, Scum of the Earth playmats are officially going to be double-sided with a big, beautiful art print on either side. Thank you again everyone for joining and supporting us. I had quite a bit to say about this, the game, the campaign, and some other bits and pieces, and it all spilled over into a video update, which you can watch here:

HEBS Review!

The previous HEBS games are still getting great reviews - this one just went live today and is well worth a watch, whether you're a fan of the series or new to HEBS: "Very thematic, the artwork is absolutely incredible... Nice immersion in history, a very enjoyable game" 1565, St. Elmo's Pay set-up, play and review from Amass Games...

1815, Scum of the Earth - Day 23, From Prussia With Love: Announcing the '1815, Give Me Night' Prussia expansion pack
about 3 years ago – Sun, Apr 11, 2021 at 01:06:26 AM

Hello there,

There's some really cool stuff in today's update, so please sit tight and pay attention, soldier... First of all, the campaign is going brilliantly – we're really threatening that 70,000 milestone – thank you so much for your support in making this happen.

'1815, Give Me Night' the 57-card Prussia Expansion Pack

Between trying to fit in a million different characters, units, events, etc. into the base game, the Prussians – who do feature in the core game – are necessarily not as numerous as I would have liked in the British/Allied deck. Those of you who would like to play as Blücher can still do that with an allied deck as the game stands. But if you'd like to mix things up and experience a fully Prussian-themed deck then this is what you've been waiting for.

As the Battle of Waterloo ramped up in intensity the Duke of Wellington said, 'Give me Blücher or give me night', and in the end he got both – so without further ado, here is the small box 1815 Prussia expansion 1815, Give Me Night:

1815, Give Me Night will contain the following 57 Prussia-themed cards:

  • 10 characters
  • 21 units
  • 10 events
  • 7 objectives
  • 6 attachments
  • 3 tactics

Simply replace your British army deck with this Prussian army deck, or even campaign as the Prussians and British against one or two French players with the multiplayer 2 core-set rules. To add a copy of the 1815, Give Me Night expansion to your pre-order simply increase your pledge by £16 and you will be able to add it to your order in the pledge manager.

Look Sharpe-ish!

As many of you have asked about it, I regret to inform you that Sean Bean was unfortunately unavailable to star as Richard Sharpe in the game, but that doesn't stop us from having our own blond hero from the 95th Rifles show up instead, as beautifully illustrated right here by the incomparably talented Arkadiusz Banaś:

The Player's Aid Interview

I was interviewed by the lovely Grant from @playersaidblog about #1815ScumOfTheEarth, Kilforth, and Hall or Nothing, and the review has been published here:

Quackalope Podcast!

And here's the link to Quackalope's latest brilliant podcast where they discuss 1815, Scum of the Earth at length – you should listen to the whole thing, but you can skip to 1:00:58 to hear their great conversation about 1815: https://quackalope.com/podcast/twq/hippocratic-scum

Finally, since we're in the final days of the campaign please help to spread the word by tweeting, facebooking, sharing and instagramming and good old fashioned shouting from the rooftops! You can start by clicking and sharing the heck out of this link to help to drive us up the hotness...
