Happy New Year! A New Campaign — From History to Legend
3 months ago – Mon, Jan 05, 2026 at 05:48:13 AM

Hello there,

Just a heads-up that we currently have a new Kickstarter live for two small box, solo card games: Night of Wolves and Ruined Path. These are not historical games — but they are born from many of the same interests that shaped my work on history: exile, survival, moral collapse, and the long shadows cast by violence. Although both games are set in the dark, folkloric fantasy world of Kilforth, they explore themes that history gamers often respond to:

Night of Wolves is about flight and endurance — a lone figure pursued through hostile lands, hunted not just by enemies, but by fear, hunger, and exhaustion. If it is successful and received well enough, I'd love to follow it up in the future with Night of Tears, a game using the same system where you play as a Saxon warrior escaping the aftermath of the Battle of Hastings in post-Conquest England, immersing the player in the idea of a land turned against its own people.

Ruined Path is a solo deck-building game about persistence — making hard choices, and surviving long enough to confront the big bad. Both games are tightly focused, solo experiences — compact, replayable, and intentionally bleak in tone but beautiful in art.

If you’re only interested in our historical games, that’s absolutely fine. We’re still deeply drawn to that space, and future projects will return to it. But if you’re curious about where those same obsessions lead when filtered through myth and legend, you can find the campaign here:

Night of Wolves & Ruined Path

As always, thank you for the trust you’ve placed in us over the years — whether you follow us into darker forests or not.

Cheers, and have a brilliant 2026!

Tristan & Francesca
Hall or Nothing Productions

PS. Out of curiosity — if we do return to historical games in the future, which of the following conflicts would interest you most (no promises implied!)?

  • Battle of Thermopylae 480 BC Greeks vs Persians
  • Battle of Cannae 216 BC Romans vs Hannibal/Carthage
  • Battle of Agincourt 1415 AD English vs French
  • Battle of Stoke Field 1487 AD Lancaster/Tudor vs York - War of the Roses
  • Battle of Gravelines 1588 AD Francis Drake vs Spanish Armada
  • Battle of Sekigahara 1600 AD West Japan vs East Japan
  • Battle of Worcester 1651 AD Royalists vs Parliamentarians English Civil War
  • Siege of Yorktown 1781 AD American Revolution: United States vs Great Britain
  • Battle of Gettysburg 1863 AD United States vs Confederate States
  • Battle of Rorke's Drift 1879 AD Britain vs Zulu Kingdom

I’m clearly drawn to conflicts of desperation, and impossible odds... :D

Another Amazing Entry

The reviews are starting to come in and people have lots of lovely things to say – 'Every card is gorgeous and makes the theme really come out in all its Napoleonic Glory. But other than the fantastic art, the gameplay is well-structured and enjoyable' – C A SEGRETO

 Final Thoughts

I want to thank every single one of you once again for supporting us in the delivery of 1815, Scum of the Earth. I cannot stress enough how grateful I am that you continue to show faith in the games that we are delivering. I was utterly captivated and swept up in the world of Napoleon but the years spent researching it seem to have just flown by, and now we have this totally gorgeous game as a result. I hope and believe that it honours and elevates our Historic Epic Battle System beautifully, and it might even be my favourite so far. I'd love to take a deep dive into history with you all again, and I hope you'll join me once more in the next iteration of our history games, however that manifests itself.

Between designing games and fulfilling Kickstarters, we've been busier than we've ever been. We've undergone the same insane shipping nightmares as every other games company in the world right now, but we still managed to successfully deliver 1815, Scum of the Earth and we even delivered Veilwraith during the pandemic itself. We're desperate to launch Kreel Manor next, we just need to line up a few more ducks first. And that launch will also pave the way for a certain horror game that we do not talk about, so make sure you're subscribed to our website as unusual things will be happening with that game.

And now, Call of Kilforth is off to print – I'm unbelievably excited about the new art and game elements, and to see what backers all think when it lands next year. I cannot believe it's already been 7 years since we launched Gloom of Kilforth and now we have 9 successful Kickstarters under our belt - it's been absolutely amazing, and it still is amazing. As a game designer as well as publisher, it's a daunting challenge every day, as well as a terrific privilege. I hope you all have an amazing Christmas, and as I said, keep your eyes peeled for our next Kickstarter launch.

And that's all for now, have a bloomin' brilliant holiday, and let's catch up in the New Year.

Cheers!

Hello there,

I hope this missive finds you safe and well! We're getting there slowly but surely...

  • China/HK - Complete

  • Taiwan - sent out from main hub on 10th Oct, ETA was 25th Oct, likely out for delivery or delivered
  • Australia - COMPLETE!
  • EU - Games have finally cleared customs and are at the Germany hub now – unfortunately they had a major outbreak of COVID throughout their office last week, but fulfilment is now scheduled to commence mid-November (week commencing 14th November), so your games should hopefully be in your hands by the end of the month.
  • UK - COMPLETE!
  • US - Games have landed and been checked at QML, address verification emails are going out soon (some have gone out already), I have approved the US test packaging parcels, and there's no other action required on our side, so it is just a case of QML telling us their schedule slot now – they have provided me with a tentative schedule of fulfilment to commence by the end of next week (11th Nov). TLDR: we're just waiting to hear from QML when the parcels will start going out. :)
  • Rest of World - COMPLETE! All parcels have been despatched, but it might take a while for them to arrive.

1815 Scum of the Earth - Solo Playthrough

TableTop Wolf gives an overview play-through of the Solo mode for 1815, Scum of the Earth in this short but sweet video:

1066, TEARS TO MANY MOTHERS LIVE PLAY

A promise has been made and broken, an evil omen is in the sky, a crown is at stake, and history is about to be made, as Monkeys With Fire recreate the infamous Battle of Hastings in 1066, Tears to Many Mothers:

Solo Foe Dial Typo

There's a misprint on the Solo Foe dial – Round 15 should read "3" for Easy, not "-13" - thanks to Andy Stanford for spotting this – the responsible party has been duly court-martialled!

Veilwraith Playthrough

Veilwraith has just opened the 2022 People's Choice Top 200 Solo Games – see what all the fuss is about and watch Go Wild Board Games play through the Veilwraith base game's 5 Vignettes:

Hall or Nothing Restock!

1815, Scum of the Earth, October 2022 – Fulfilment Underway!
over 3 years ago – Fri, Oct 07, 2022 at 01:42:23 PM

Hello there,

Fulfilment Begins!

Back in August, workers at the Port of Felixstowe (UK) went on strike following a pay dispute, with an additional strike that finished on the 5th October. Felixstowe is the UK's biggest container port. Gamesquest are expecting delays that will have an ongoing impact on their fulfilment schedule over the coming months. This impact is not limited to the UK, with previous strike action resulting in major vessel diversions that caused additional congestion across European ports. All that said, we are in fairly good shape to get things moving with fulfilment as most of our shipments have already landed in their various hubs...

  • UK: the shipment has arrived at Gamesquest, and we're hoping that fulfilment will commence some time next week, though this is not 100% confirmed yet.
  • US/CANADA: the shipment has arrived at QML, the shipping data is already with them, the delivery is already booked in, and we're tentatively hoping for fulfilment mid-October currently, but will know more soon.
  • EU: Our EU shipment of games has been pulled for a random customs inspection, but we've provided all of the requested documentation so we're hoping it clears through customs smoothly and we can still ship orders out in October.
  • AUSTRALIA: has completed fulfilment, which is great news - finally you guys get first dibs! If you're in Australia/New Zealand and for some reason haven't received your game yet, please email us and we'll look into it for you asap: [email protected]
  • CHINA/ASIA: the China hub has begun shipping the consolidated shipments to all the smaller hubs for them to fulfil (Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, etc). Basically, they pick the orders in the China warehouse and then put them on consolidated shipments to these smaller hubs for them to be quickly put into the courier circulation of that country and sent to backers. Technically we consider this fulfilment started, but it does take a little while for these consolidated shipments to reach their smaller hubs and then ship out to individual backers.

TLDR: It's finally happening, with fulfilment occurring mostly throughout October, but please be patient!

Look at that beauty - possibly our most beautiful HEBS game yet?!
This one could be yours!

Tabletop Gaming Live!

Thanks so much to everyone who came to support us at our booth at Tabletop Gaming Live in Manchester – Francesca and I had a brilliant time meeting you. We got these photos whilst setting up but were kicking ourselves afterwards when it got too busy to take any photos with actual people at the stand! Nevertheless, we managed to sell out our stock (Veilwraith was crazy popular!), which was great, but I'll never get tired of meeting fans in person, signing copies of games (that still feels weird, but great!), and also meeting new people who've never heard of us and blethering about my games to them until their eyes water. :D

People Choice Top Solo Games 2022- Starting Now!

If you haven't already, be sure to mosey on over to the 1 Player Guild on BGG and have your say by submitting your top 20 favourite solo games of the year:

https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2937260/people-choice-top-solo-games-2022-starting-now

And that's all for now, I hope everyone has a fantastic and safe weekend – we're not doing Essen this year, but if you're going, have a brilliant time and post tonnes of pics on social so that we can all live vicariously through you and ogle the new games (and feel well jelly!)...

Ciao for now!
