Latest Updates from Our Project:

1815, Scum of the Earth - September 2022, Fulfilment + Gen Con + Plays + Video + Tabletop Gaming Live!
over 3 years ago – Thu, Sep 01, 2022 at 04:02:36 AM

Hello there,

Games are landing at hubs – fulfilment ETA October

Let's get straight to the hub updates: since we're all waiting impatiently already, at this point I've instructed all individual hubs to proceed with fulfilment asap, rather than waiting for all worldwide hubs to ship out all at once. At least this way if you don't get the games first, you'll get to see lots of cool unboxing photos and videos from other backers whilst you wait! :)

  •  Australia hub: the games have been delivered to the hub! I've told them to get started asap to try and let you guys have the games first for once, but it all depends on their backlog of their other projects. We've been in this situation before and still had the Australia games go out last, but fingers crossed you'll get the jump this time. :)
  •  UK hub: 10th September ETA into Port. From Gamesquest: "Port Felixstowe was shut down due to worker strikes, which has had a knock-on effect on the EU hubs too. This has caused delays of imminent shipments and will no doubt cause delays for incoming shipments both in the UK and over in the EU (as ships either try to find alternative ports to drop the shipments off in, or cut-and-run to another port based on other shipments they have to deliver, eventually coming back to finish delivery at Felixstowe if still required). Realistically there could be further delays as the ports across UK and EU try to catch up."
  •  EU hub: Due into Hamburg port on 22nd September. Ports are unfortunately experiencing delays at the moment, as above. From Gamesquest: "I would hope that the EU shipment is not affected and by the time the 22nd comes around there would no longer be delays, however I cannot guarantee this and the further headache is that the strike action has led to no agreement, meaning there could be further strikes in the future."
  •  US/Canada hubs: ETA into port on 3rd of September. From Gamesquest: "We would expect the checks to take 1-2 weeks before reaching the hub at QML. In rare cases these timings have been longer due to additional customs checks (X-rays, etc.) but those circumstances are fairly exceptional. To caveat this, with port congestion appearing to be a regular thing across the world currently (certainly in the UK and EU), there is chance of longer delays as shipments become backlogged in ports."

All this is to say thatwhilst the games are landing at the hubs imminently once they're handled through the ports we can now reasonably expect the games to start landing in your hands throughout October, wherever you are in the world (unless you're lucky enough to have yours delivered early).

Gen Con 2022

What a lovely convention! I had such a brilliant time at Gen Con. The business meetings were fun, but it was so cool getting to meet wonderful people and actually sit and play games too. Thanks so much to everyone who spent time with me - I've never been bought so many drinks and meals! Made me feel very special, and I hope to be back again next year. Here's a quick photo dump (there's about a hundred more on Facebook!):

I read a bunch of his stuff growing up, and R A Salvatore is now my son's favourite author - he even recorded a lovely personalised video for my boy
Caleb Grace, Corey Konieczka, Brady Sadler, and some lucky schmuck
I got to play Lord of the Rings with Caleb Grace (Lord of the Rings LCG designer)!
Jeff Irving, and Jamie Jolly (of Oathsworn fame) lent me their wit and wisdom
With the man with the hat
"Broadswoarrd!!"

Tabletop Gaming Live!

If you're in the UK and you haven't already, make sure you've got your tickets booked for Tabletop Gaming Live. We will be there to support and exhibit at Tabletop Gaming Live at Victoria Warehouse, Manchester 17th - 18th September 2022:

Can you beat 150 HEBS game sessions??

Do you record your plays? This is something that came up in discussion a lot at Gen Con, as people reached for their phones after each game to record their plays on various apps and websites. Personally, I use a google sheet to track which games out of our family collection are getting the most and least love. 1066 veteran Gregory Fuchs over on BGG has already racked up an impressive 150+ plays of 1066, Tears to Many Mothers alone, which hopefully gives some indication of the robustness of the system! Can you beat that number??

Video!

Finally, be sure to check out this neat Unboxing and Setup of #1066TearsToManyMothers from North of 60 Gaming:

And that's all for now – have an awe-inspiring rest of the week!

Cheers,

1815, Scum of the Earth - August 2022, On The Boats!
over 3 years ago – Mon, Aug 01, 2022 at 12:18:14 PM

Hello there,

Just a quick update to say that the games are finally on the boats! :D

On The Boats!

The games are all due to arrive in their respective ports at the end of August except for the US ship which will dock in early September. The next step is to get them from the ports to our hubs, and book them all into each hub's schedule. This process can take another few weeks, but at the time of writing still leaves us on track to get the majority of the games into your hands in September. So, hang tight in the meantime!

Tabletop Gaming Live

If you're in the UK and you haven't already, make sure you've got your tickets booked for Tabletop Gaming Live. We will be there to support and exhibit at Tabletop Gaming Live at Victoria Warehouse, Manchester 17th - 18th September 2022:

https://www.tabletopgaming.co.uk/information/tabletop-gaming-live

Though we won't have a booth at GenCon 2022 I will be there in attendance as a punter and would love to meet friendly gamers for a fist bump and a chat about games so let me know if you're going.

That's all for now as I'm packing for Gen Con – I hope to see you there if you're going, and have a fantastic week ahead either way.

Cheers!

UK Games Expo + GenCon + Tabletop Gaming Live

We were so to proud to exhibit and support the biggest gaming convention in the UK, and we met so many really lovely people at UK Games Expo. Thanks so much to everyone who made the time to come visit our stand. It was fantastic to meet so many new people, some who'd never heard of us, some who had, and many who were already supporters. You had us hoarse not just from blathering about our games, but from laughter too – a truly excellent weekend.

Media: Senet + Tabletop Gaming Magazine

The latest issue of Senet – the most beautiful tabletop gaming magazine in the world – is now available. Amongst the many fantastic contributions and reviews in each issue, they also let me write a regular column about game design for those who are interested. You can subscribe here:

Also, the latest issue of Tabletop Gaming Magazine – the most popular tabletop gaming magazine in the world – is now available too. I don't have a regular column in TGM, but they sometimes let me contribute, and for this Middle-earth themed issue they asked me to write a big article about one of my favourite games of all time The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game, which I play-tested, and wrote a bunch of fan-made 'ninjadorg' scenarios for. You can subscribe (or squint really hard at the photo below) to read my musings in TGM here:

1815, Scum of the Earth – May 2022: UKGE + China Lockdown Delays ETA now August/September
almost 4 years ago – Wed, May 04, 2022 at 06:16:12 AM

Hello there,

China Lockdown Update - ETA August/September

As many of you know, China is undergoing a series of Covid lockdowns, and the latest has unfortunately hit our printers. The latest update we have for you is that the games are almost entirely complete – nothing relating to the game components themselves is causing issue or holding the process up – but they are now completely locked down in the warehouse. Unfortunately, we just have to ride this out, and hope that everyone affected is safe and well.

The completion date for 1815, Scum of the Earth is now June 27th. With freight shipping and fulfilment still to follow, this means your games will now be delivered to you in August/September.

I apologise for the frustration this causes. If it's any consolation, we're as frustrated as anyone, particularly in light of how close we were to shipping before the lockdown hit, but this is the world we live in right now, and everyone's safety remains the priority.

UKGE

Just a reminder that UKGE is happening next and Hall or Nothing will be sponsoring the convention and in attendance at Stand 1-1016 on Kilforth Street. We would love to see you there so please pop by to say 'wotcha' should you have the opportunity. We will be demoing the pre-production copy of 1815, Scum of the Earth:

Napoleonic Wars: Battle of Waterloo 1815

This is a nice 14 minute blast of history about the battle (some funny comments too):

Spite Hammers CCG

Thanks to those of you who asked, and to confirm: yes, the Spite Hammers LCG featuring my own terrible illustrations was of course an April Fool. It would directly contravene the entirety of our company motto: Hall Or Nothing delivers thematic tabletop games with world-class art where quality cannot be compromised – not to mention the difficulty of actually implementing the nuanced Tennis Rackets and Teapots™ system! :D

And rest assured that here's the sort of art you'll actually be receiving with 1815, Scum of the Earth:

And that's all for now, cheers, and stay safe!
